We are looking for people who have a genuine interest in the area of AI and machine learning, and who want to help out establishing Stockholm as a global hub within AI.

Description of open roles

Community manager

We are looking for a volunteer to help us manage our Facebook community. 

Ideally you are an energetic and social person with great communication skills that would like to help us manage incoming member requests and questions, keep members up to date on the latest Stockholm AI news, and, most importantly, help us drive interesting conversations in the group by suggesting content (e.g. articles, papers, etc.) and/or discussion topics around which the community can come together.

Ultimately, we would like the person joining us to help us build the Facebook group  into an interesting place to come and read about the latest news, trends, events and discussions within the field of AI and Machine Learning.

Sample Tasks

  • Provide engaging AI, Machine Learning and Stockholm AI content for the community to interact with
  • Respond to Stockholm AI related comments and queries 
  • Monitor and report on Stockholm AI feedback from members
  • Organize and participate in events to build the community
  • Ensure brand consistency
  • Liaise with other volunteers to stay updated on upcoming Stockholm AI events and activities

Profile

  • Ideally you have an academic background in Machine Learning or an equivalent level of expertise. This will be crucial for you to be able to evaluate what kind of content will be most relevant to the community.
  • You like to talk to people, and regularly start and engage in conversations.
  • You are able and willing to commit to this role for at least 6 months and dedicate ~2h per week to it. 
  • It’s a plus if you have been part of the community for at least 6 months.

Event Manager

We are looking for a volunteer to help us manage our Stockholm AI events. 

Ideally you are a structured and driven person that would like to help us manage events and event organizers, in order to make sure that there is always a future Stockholm AI event in the planning. 

While event organizers are the ones responsible for the planning and execution of individual events, the event manager is the person responsible for:  

  1. finding and/or being aware of people and institutions that are interested in organizing a Stockholm AI event, and driving the conversation such that event ideas become booked events
  2. serve as a project manager to make sure that the event organizer is preparing the event in a quality and timely manner.

Ultimately, we would like the person joining us to help us continue our series of meetup / summit events, which are one of the main forums in Stockholm to come and share knowledge within the field of AI and Machine Learning.

Sample Tasks

  • Assuring that 5-6 meetup / summit events are held per year 
  • Be responsible for finding organizers which want to drive events
  • Make sure that each event is planned in a quality and timely manner, to offer a great experience for our members and potential hosts. 
  • Manage the Stockholm AI Eventbrite account

Profile

  • A background in Machine Learning is preferred, but not strictly necessary.
  • You have organized events in the past and are able to take up the responsibilities with little guidance.
  • You are able and willing to commit to this role for at least 6 months and dedicate up to ~5h per week when in the final planning stages of an event (this would only happen 6 times per year). 
  • It’s a plus if you have been part of the community for at least 6 months.

Communications & PR Manager

We are looking for a volunteer to help us manage our internal / external Communication and PR.

Ideally, you are a creative and self-motivated person, with excellent speaking and writing skills (in English and Swedish), that would like to help us drive both our internal and external communications.

This is a fairly new role in the organization and thus, one of the main responsibilities of the Communications and PR manager will be to help us shape and execute on a communications strategy that is in line with our community’s values and goals. You  will work closely with the board, in order to align on Stockholm AI’s vision and mission, but otherwise have a lot of autonomy in defining Stockholm AI’s internal and external communications programs.

Sample tasks

  • Shape the appropriate strategy and methods to communicate the organization’s image and values.
  • Implement and execute on communication plans across multiple channels (e.g. email newsletters, web site management and content development, community videos, social media stories, press releases, etc.)
  • Generate content to keep the community engaged and up to date on the latest Stockholm AI news.
  • When appropriate, generate content for external channels to inform the wider Stockholm / Sweden community about Stockholm AI activities.

Profile

  • A background in Machine Learning or Journalism, Marketing or Communications is preferred, but not strictly necessary.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are highly welcomed
  • You are able and willing to commit to this role for at least 6 months and dedicate ~2h per week to it. 
  • It’s a plus if you have been part of the community for at least 6 months.

Event-volunteer Manager

We are looking for a volunteer to help us manage the wonderful volunteers that help us out during events.

Ideally you are an energetic and social person that would like to bring people together to help out with all the small activities surrounding the preparation of a Stockholm AI event, like: checking tickets, helping set up the venue, guiding guests to the venue, helping with the tech. at the venue (e.g. sound mixers, lighting, etc.), and more. The actual needs vary depending on the venue / type of event, but we’re always thankful if we have a couple of helping hands.

We’re regularly are asked by community members how they can help out in future events. The volunteer manager would be the person that we would like to refer these community members to.

Sample Tasks

  • Keep track of members that would like to volunteer to help with Stockholm AI events or other activities, and create a volunteer network
  • Coordinate with the volunteer network and event organizers , in order to inform any interested volunteers about upcoming opportunities to help out and to make sure that the right number of volunteers are available
  • Administer the volunteers’ schedule and responsibilities at events
  • Monitor the needs and personal drivers of volunteers, in order to make sure we can offer them a positive and enriching experience

Profile

  • You have excellent interpersonal skills ,and like to motivate and bring people together
  • You are able and willing to commit to this role for at least 6 months and dedicate up to ~5h per week when in the final planning stages of an event (this would only happen 6 times per year). 
  • It’s a plus if you have been part of the community for at least 6 months.
